We paid a top price of $25,000 for Neil & Rosalie Watson’s Watasanta Big Banana at their 2nd Watasanta Invitational Bull Sale held at Watasanta, Tamworth on Thursday 12th August in 2010

Watasanta Big Banana first took our eye at the Ausmectin Beef Week Open Day in June. It’s not very often that a sire of this quality comes up for sale, so when the opportunity arose we knew that we had the chance to buy one of the breeds top sires. Watasanta Big Banana was awarded Grand Champion Bull at Brisbane Royal Show in 2008 and was first in his class at the Sydney Royal show in 2008 as well. He has also won the title of Junior, Grand Champion & Supreme Santa Gertrudis Exhibit and the Tamworth Show in 2008.

Sold as Lot 8, the four year old bull weighing in at 1202kgs on sale day with an EMA of 138cm and Fat scores of 19/12mm, he is sired by Waco Odessey (P). Big Banana was used in the Watasanta herd before being offered for sale.

With his huge hindquarters, well balanced frame an ultra tidy sheath, makes him a very complete package for the Glen Leigh stud herd. He has settled in very well and we believe that Big Banana is going to breed some excellent sons and replacement females in which the stud can keep building upon.
